Why Achievement Isn’t Enough
What Happens When the Life You Built No Longer Feels Like the Life You Want
We accomplish one thing, and then the next. What happens when the applause is over and achievement doesn’t feel like enough?
Like last year's Christmas gift, many of our achievements eventually find their way onto a shelf, quietly falling into the background of our lives. Promotions, titles, salaries, milestones, they often shine brightest while we're pursuing them. Once we've arrived, it's only a matter of time before we're looking toward the next horizon.
So what sustains us when the applause is over? When life still feels incomplete? Aren't achievements supposed to make us feel accomplished? Then what is it we're really looking for?
Perhaps it's more meaningful work.
More purposeful pursuits.
All of them rooted in the truth of who we want to be and what we want to do.
Because achievements don't sustain fulfillment. Fulfillment comes from building a life we genuinely want to inhabit: a life where we can be ourselves, where we are seen and valued, and where there's no need to pretend.
