Hi. I’m Shai. Thanks for joining us!
Have you ever experienced a moment that felt so full of lightness, beauty, or possibility that you wished you could hold onto it forever?
I have. Those moments remind me that life can feel bigger than the routines, old decisions, responsibilities, and expectations that so easily come to define it.
Maybe you know that feeling too. You’ve built a life. You’re doing the things that need to be done. But somewhere along the way, you’ve started wondering: Is there more I want to see, try, learn, experience, or become?
Well, that question is worth following. It’s why I created The Bungaloom: Basecamp for Possibility.
Here, we’ll explore what makes life larger, richer, and more interesting. We’ll go places. Meet people. Try things. Ask questions. Follow curiosities. And reconsider some of the assumptions we’ve made about work, success, style, adventure, and what a good life is supposed to look like.
I don’t expect to know what we’ll find. That’s part of the point.
The Bungaloom is our basecamp: a place to return to with stories, discoveries, new perspectives, and perhaps a little more courage to explore what might be possible in our own lives.
There’s a lot of life out there.
Let’s go find out.
MEET YOUR HOST & GUIDE
My Story
I’ve spent more than two decades as a lawyer, executive, and strategist, helping people and organizations navigate difficult decisions and determine what comes next. Along the way, I’ve gone to law school and business school, studied music and fashion, changed industries, changed cities, and woven a meaningful life.
But I’ve learned that life rarely unfolds in a straight line. Things happen when we least expect them. The world changes, and sometimes we have to rethink our place in it and where we want to go next. And I’ve learned that there’s often more possibility than we can see from where we’re standing.
So let’s go find it.
That might mean stepping inside a samba factory in Brazil, meeting someone who walked away from a conventional career, learning something completely new, exploring a neighborhood I’ve never seen, making music, playing with personal style, traveling somewhere alone, or spending the day with someone who does an ordinary thing extraordinarily well.
I’m curious about the many ways people live, work, create, build, dress, travel, learn, and make a life—and what we might discover for ourselves by experiencing more of them.
My hope is that somewhere along the way, you’ll see something that makes your own world feel a little bigger. Something that sparks an idea, awakens an old dream, gives you the courage to try, or simply reminds you how much there still is to experience.
That’s The Bungaloom.
There’s a lot of life out there. Let’s go see some of it.
Things I Love Most
Handwritten cards from my family.
Exploring the world with my husband Spencer.
Cozy throws, bed pillows and percale sheets.
Nestle Tollhouse cookies I used to make with my mom.
Away retreats to reflect, write in my journal and read.
Designer fashion finds, dressing on a budget, well made clothes.
My 5 Core Beliefs
One size doesn’t fit all. I can count a million ways to a good life. We deserve a more meaningful, graceful, thoughtful way of approaching it.
We don’t have to follow someone else’s path, or keep following our own, just because we started down it.
Sometimes experiencing another way of living is all it takes to imagine something different for ourselves.
A meaningful life isn’t only something we build. It’s something we get to experience.
Kindness toward yourself is an indispensable ingredient.
